Regent Surgical Health DON Conference, Boulder, CO

Deb and I had the privilege of being invited to speak at the annual Regent Surgical Health Director of Nursing Conference, in Boulder, CO. Because the meeting was in Colorado, it was an easy drive for me. Deb flew in the night before the conference started and was able to come to our home for dinner. It was so great having her here to see where we are living now and, mostly importantly, see our kiddos! The last time she saw Aidan was when he was only about 4 months old and she hadn’t met Abigail yet. We had such a great visit, before she made her way up to Boulder!

The meeting was held at the beautiful St. Julien Hotel and Spa. The hotel is located in the heart of Boulder’s historic downtown, close to the University of Colorado and at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and Flatiron rock formations. The weather was beautiful Tuesday morning and Deb had a chance to go for a walk in the morning. I drove up and met Deb for a nice lunch and then we joined the meeting in the afternoon. I gave a presentation on Survey Preparation and Deb presented the following morning on Documentation Best Practices. We also had the opportunity to give a quick web demo of Progressive eSupport, our single source online portal for all things ASC. We received great feedback on our presentations! This group of DONs were engaged and wanted to learn.

We were invited to join the group for dinner Tuesday night at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. This teahouse was given to Boulder by their sister city, Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Over 40 artisans created the hand carved and hand painted ceiling, the plaster carved walls, carved columns, and external ceramic panels. After being constructed in Tajikistan, the teahouse was taken apart, crated, and shipped to Boulder where it was reassembled. It was beautiful! The food was delicious and we had great company at our table. We ended the night with one of their delicious premium loose leaf teas, of which they have over 100.

We parted ways in Boulder after the morning session. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Regent Surgical Health’s conference! And, as always, it is such a pleasure and so much fun to travel with Deb.
