CMS Granting Exceptions to ASCs Affected by Natural Disasters
Due to the devastating impacts of several recent natural disasters, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is granting exceptions for Medicare quality reporting requirements to ASCs located in affected areas.
ASCs Affected by the Northern California Wildfires
CMS will grant exceptions to ASCs located in areas affected by the October 2017 Northern California wildfires. ASCs located in eight California counties will receive exceptions without having to submit an extraordinary circumstances exception (ECE) request; ASCs located outside these counties may request an exception. ASCs Affected by Hurricane Harvey
CMS is granting exceptions to ASCs located in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. CMS has updated its list of affected localities to include eight additional Louisiana parishes and nine additional Texas counties. ASCs located in the affected counties and parishes will receive exceptions to the reporting requirements without having to submit an ECE request; ASCs located outside these areas may request an exception. ASCs Affected by Hurricane Irma
CMS is granting exceptions to ASCs located in areas affected by Hurricane Irma. CMS has updated its list of affected localities to include 16 South Carolina counties. ASCs located in the affected counties, municipios and county-equivalents will receive exceptions to the reporting requirements without having to submit an ECE request; ASCs located outside these areas may request an exception.
