AASA Meeting and Mock Survey in Little Rock

Debra combined two events into one trip this week.

As part of Progressive Surgical solutions, we participate in our respective state associations. It’s a great way to ensure voices are heard. Debra is the sitting President of the Arkansas Ambulatory Surgery Association. The annual meeting is a one day event compared to other quarterly meetings that are 2 hours in length. They had great topics including a Federal Update by Kara Newbury at ASCA.  Elise Mitchell gave a leadership presentation, “Leading through the Turn”, based on her book of the same title. There was an Active Shooter presentation by Nicholas Brown and an Arkansas Department of Health regulatory update by Becky Bennett. Following the meeting, Dr. Scott Schlesinger expressed concern to interested ASCs about the proposed Blue Cross Blue Shield proposal. ASCs were encouraged to determine the impact to their ASC and to voice their issues to Blue Cross Blue Shield, as applicable.

From there, Deb went to Centerview Surgery Center as a follow up to their mock survey. This state of the art facility is one week away from their Arkansas State licensure survey. The Joint Commission will perform their deemed status certification survey following licensure. Progressive Surgical Solutions provided policy and procedure manuals, staff training and education and a mock survey prior to this site visit. We will stay with the client through receipt of the certification recommendation from TJC.

A productive two days!
